Miami, FL – The months of January through March bring cold temperatures to Miami nearing 40 degrees Fahrenheit. To most South Floridians, this is a pleasant time of year to enjoy “Cafecito Cubano” or hot chocolate at the local cafeteria; To South Florida animals residing in a shelter, these months can be torture, as Miami Dade Animal Shelter facilities provide little refuge from the bitter nighttime cold in Miami.
To help shelter animals stay warm and comfortable during the cold, Miami Dade Animal Services is collecting donated blankets for shelter animals.
Donated blankets will be collected until January 30, 2016. Donations can be made at one of two county facilities:
- Miami Dade Animal Shelter located at 7401 NW 74 Street, Medley, FL, 33166
- Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street, Miami, FL 33126
